2024 Vyshyvanka Day
International Vyshyvanka Day is observed every third Thursday of May, with this year's celebration falling on May 16th. On this occasion, Ukrainians and supporters of Ukraine worldwide proudly don vyshyvanky (Ukrainian embroidered shirts), showcasing solidarity and unity with the Ukrainian people.
The vyshyvanka carries profound significance, embodying Ukrainian heritage, dignity, and resilience in the face of challenges. It serves as a powerful symbol of cultural identity and strength and represents Ukraine’s rich and diverse regional ethnography. From the Carpathian Mountains to the fertile plains of Polissia, each embroidered motif tells a story of tradition and craftsmanship, weaving together the vibrant threads of Ukraine's collective history.
Please join us at the UCC-Toronto Vyshyvanka Day Parade on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30pm, starting at Bloor & Jane streets.
